The Legendary...

On monday, me and my little brother On Space had the privilege of witnessing - yeah, not watching, but witnessing - The Roots live at the Sheperds Bush Empire. I've left it a day to write about it because I didn't want the initial excitement to cloud my judgement and say things I didn't actually mean. But it makes no difference. I'm pretty sure, in fact, I'm utterly convinced, that I have witnessed the best concert of my life. 6, excellent, generous musicians, performing a mesmerising 2 and a half hour set of top-notch, ecclectic, no rules but to please, fantastic music. I have searched the internet for a clip of their live gigs, but nothing I could find did any justice to what they perform on stage, or rather, my bro has, and he found this clip of ?uestlove playing a beat duet with The Roots' percussionist. The sound isn't great but you get an idea.

Seeing them again is definately on my list of things-to-do-before-I-die.

Tomorrow, by the way, I'm going to catch The Roots drummer ?uestlove dj'ing at the Jazz Cafe. Judging by his record collection, it should be a brilliant night.

Word.

¡Aaaaaaaaaah!
